Simone Pheulpin

The drawer on this elegant box, with its Vosges cotton tab mechanism, opens to reveal a reproduction of the x-ray associated with Simone Pheulpin’s Ensemble. A different way to approach to this work, digigraphy brings to the fore the proliferation of pins that alone shape and hold together from inside the dense and regular piles of folds constituting the sculpture.

Delicately enveloped in its acid-free tissue, the digigraphy sits atop a forthcoming monograph devoted to the artist’s work. The entire case is covered in fir-green canvas, an allusion to Nature, a force that permeates the artist’s thought.

Reserved for this subscription offer, the 300 digigraphic reproductions are printed on Arches® Platine 310 g paper specially made for this printing and are signed by the artist.
Dimensions of the digigraphy (supplied unframed): 27.5 x 34 cm.
Books and prints are numbered from 001/300 to 300/300.

About the author

Asking the novelist Christophe Pradeau to write about Simone Pheulpin's art made perfect sense as his texts draw on close attention to the landscape and the genius of places while making dialogue amongst the arts—cinema, music, visual arts and architecture—a centrepiece of his work.
Also an essayist and literary critic, Pradeau teaches literature at the Sorbonne University. His three novels are published by Verdier, the latest of which, Les Vingt-quatre Portes du jour et de la nuit, came out in 2017. He has also authored a cycle of poems for the Art book Paysages entrebâillés. Sept encres de Chine de Françoise Pacé (2011) and an essay illustrated with photographs by Frédéric Leguetteur, Proust à Illiers-Combray. L’Éclosion du monde (Belin, 2013).
